AI desk
Welcome to the AI desk
AINicholas Cabel
The AI desk is for short AI summaries of model and tool news, and for my own notes from building with Claude and the Model Context Protocol and from working on L.U.M.I., a desktop assistant written in WPF.

This desk is about building with AI, and about the model and tool news worth knowing when you do. I write software for a living, most of it now with an AI tool somewhere in the loop, and this is where the useful parts get written down.
What lands here
- Tooling that earned its place. Which assistants and editors I actually use, and why. The current list is on the directory.
- MCP servers and APIs. In 2026 I learned to write Model Context Protocol servers; the patterns that held up go here.
- L.U.M.I. The desktop assistant I started in the summer of 2025 lives at aiassistant2.com. Release notes and lessons come through this desk.
- Model and tool news. Short summaries of new releases and product changes, written by an AI tool from the announcement or the reporting on it. Each one is marked as an AI summary, names its main source, and is reviewed by me before it goes up.
Rules for this desk
A news summary tells you what was announced and who said so. It is not a test: unless it says otherwise, I have not tried the thing myself. A post from my own builds shows the thing working, or says plainly that it does not. Screenshots and numbers over adjectives.
