Welcome to the Students desk

What this desk covers, how often it writes, and the one page every Penn State student should bookmark first.

This desk is for the practical side of being a student: deadlines that actually matter, software the university already pays for, and the discounts that are worth the sign-up.

What lands here

  • Registrar dates, explained in plain English a week before they bite. The late-drop period, tuition deadlines, the day the add/drop rules change.
  • Free software. Penn State licenses far more than most students know: Adobe Creative Cloud, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, GitHub Enterprise, a university VPN. The list lives on the deals page.
  • Discounts that are real. Student Beans and UNiDAYS list discounts from thousands of brands between them; only about 80 are software worth having. Those are on the same deals page.

How often

Only when there is something to say. A quiet month is a quiet inbox.

If a story here saves you one deadline or one subscription, it did its job.
